Homeworks Construction brings expert craftsmanship and a passion for architecture to home building on Oahu. With a portfolio ranging from spectacular custom homes to simple, elegant remodeling jobs, Homeworks Construction is among the most in-demand design/build residential contractors in Hawaii.
When company president Marshall Hickox started researching solar energy for his company’s 4,000 square foot headquarters in Moilili, SunPower by Eco Solar was top of mind because of the great reviews he heard from his clients.
“The job they did was outstanding and my clients could not have been happier. For this reason I hired Eco Solar to install a system at my personal residence. The system they installed delivered as promised and the installation process and crews were as professional as any I had ever worked with. That firsthand experience put Eco Solar as a clear front-runner to install the system here at my offices.”
The design process began with a detailed analysis of Homeworks energy consumption and site plan. Limited roof space meant that Homeworks would need to maximize every available square foot.
SunPower by Eco Solar’s engineering team recommended a system of 115 SunPower E-Series 327 watt panels. With 44% more energy per square foot than conventional panels, Homeworks now had a credible strategy to make the most of their compact footprint.
Rooftop A/C units presented an additional challenge to designers. Shadows cast at different times of the day could impact production if not addressed. To overcome this obstacle, Eco Solar specified SolarEdge inverters with optimizers on each panel. Optimizers make a solar array “smarter”, enabling panels to produce maximum energy during every moment of the day.
In preparing for the installation, SunPower by Eco Solar left nothing to guesswork.
“Several site inspections were conducted to ensure the roof was structurally sound and prepped prior to installation. I was impressed by the extra steps Eco Solar took to ensure that not only their system was going to perform and function for a long time, but that my building was also properly prepared to receive the system” said Hickox.
“Because we have tenants in our office building as well, having the installation process done in a safe, neat, and quick manner was important to us as the landlords. The entire process was well coordinated and went smooth as promised.”
Now Homeworks enjoys substantial savings to their electric bill. Lease-to-own financing means that after twelve years Homeworks will own the system outright. They’ll pay nothing for the energy generated during the rest of its forty-year effective lifespan.
“We are extremely satisfied with our new system and it performs exactly as promised. Our energy bill has been greatly reduced with zero impact to our building and at no cost to us. The only problem is that we didn’t do it sooner”.
