A new national rebate program offers up to $1,000 back when you order and install Powerwall 3 or Powerwall 3 Expansion between now and September 2026. Oahu families are seeing more outages this year and some of the highest evening electricity rates in the country, which is why many homeowners are looking for ways to strengthen backup power and take more control of their energy costs. This rebate adds meaningful savings and works alongside Hawaii’s strongest incentives, including the state renewable energy tax credit and Hawaiian Electric’s BYOD Plus program.
Whether you are adding solar plus battery storage for the first time or expanding an existing system, 2026 presents a unique window to maximize available incentives while improving your home’s energy independence and outage protection.

Stacking Incentives: What Oahu Homeowners Can Receive
The Powerwall 3 rebate works alongside existing Hawaii battery incentives, creating one of the strongest combined value opportunities for solar and storage in 2026.
Available Incentives
Powerwall 3 Rebate
$500 per unit, up to $1,000 total.
Managed by the homeowner through the rebate portal.
Hawaii Renewable Energy Tax Credit
35 percent of eligible system costs.
State program with income-based caps.
BYOD Plus Program
$400 per kilowatt committed as an upfront payment.
Ongoing monthly credit for exported energy during a two hour daily support window.
Administered by Hawaiian Electric.
These programs operate independently. The manufacturer rebate reduces your installation cost, and BYOD Plus provides additional value based on grid participation, so the incentives do not reduce each other.
Homeowners must meet each program’s eligibility requirements separately, including installation timing, BYOD Plus grid commitment, and state tax credit rules.
Exact values depend on system size and BYOD Plus participation level, but the stacking potential makes 2026 one of the strongest years for battery storage.
For more details on BYOD Plus requirements, visit the Hawaiian Electric BYOD Plus program page.
Options for Current Eco Solar Hawaii Customers
If you already have solar installed by Eco Solar Hawaii, this rebate provides an opportunity to expand your system and increase backup capabilities.
Benefits of Adding Powerwall 3
- Longer backup duration during outages
- Increased nighttime energy independence
- Additional storage for future upgrades
- Eligibility for BYOD Plus incentives
- Qualification for the $500 to $1,000 rebate
Eligibility for BYOD Plus depends on your Hawaiian Electric program, including NEM, CGS+, Smart Export, or other rate structures. Our team can review your system and confirm whether a battery expansion qualifies.
Important: Systems installed before November 1, 2025 do not qualify. Only new Powerwall 3 units ordered within the program window are eligible.
